Diogo Reis

Diogo Reis was born on March 20, 2002, in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. Inspired by his older brother, he began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at age 10. Initially coached by Alexandre Oliveira, Reis soon transitioned to the esteemed Melqui Galvão Jiu-Jitsu academy, where he rapidly progressed through the ranks and emerged as a prominent competitor.

From the outset, Reis displayed exceptional talent and a fierce competitive drive. He dominated juvenile and colored belt divisions, notably achieving the coveted "Grand Slam"—winning gold at all four major IBJJF tournaments: the World Championship, Pan Championship, Brazilian Nationals, and European Open. This rare accomplishment solidified Reis as one of his generation's standout prodigies, foreshadowing his future success at the elite adult level.

Diogo Reis received his black belt from Melqui Galvão on December 13, 2020, at 18 years old. Shortly before his official promotion, he debuted at black belt during the 2020 AJP Tour Grand Slam Rio de Janeiro, earning a silver medal. His rapid ascent continued as he captured gold at the prestigious 2022 ADCC World Championship in the 66 kg division. Demonstrating elite consistency, Reis successfully defended his title at the 2024 ADCC World Championship, becoming one of the few athletes to achieve back-to-back ADCC gold medals in one of grappling's most competitive divisions.

In 2024, Reis expanded his competitive reach by signing with ONE Championship to participate in high-profile submission grappling matches. He made an impressive promotional debut on March 7, 2025, at ONE Fight Night 29, defeating Shoya Ishiguro. His aggressive grappling style and dynamic approach resonated strongly with global audiences, significantly elevating his personal brand and bringing professional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to a wider fanbase.

Outside of competition, Diogo Reis fulfilled a personal ambition by joining the Brazilian Army. In 2023, he was officially inducted as a Third Sergeant through a special program designed for high-performance athletes. This achievement allowed Reis to realize his childhood dream of serving his country and proudly wearing the army uniform. Balancing military duties with rigorous training, Reis continues to represent Brazil with distinction both on and off the mats.
