BJJ Elo Rankings

Current Implementation:
  • All competitors start at 1500 points
  • K-factor varies based on match count (higher for newer competitors)
  • Ratings updated after each match chronologically
  • Ratings marked with * indicate provisional status (fewer than 5 matches)
Rating Volatility:

Rankings are currently highly volatile as we continue to add and process historical match data. Individual ratings may fluctuate significantly as our match database becomes more comprehensive and additional competition results are incorporated.

Known Limitations:
  • No weight class differentiation (including open weight)
  • No belt rank considerations
  • No tournament importance weighting
  • Draws are currently skipped
  • No time decay for inactive competitors
Future Development:

We plan to introduce weight classes, rule sets, and belt rank differentiation as more data becomes available. Rankings are subject to significant changes during this beta period as we refine the system and add historical match data.
