Mahamed Aly

Mahamed Aly was born on January 11, 1994, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and grew up in Duque de Caxias. His childhood was profoundly impacted by tragedy when his father was murdered, prompting his family to relocate when Aly was nine years old. As a teenager, Aly developed a strong interest in mixed martial arts (MMA), initially training in kickboxing at age 15 before fully transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Aly began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training under Everaldo Penco before moving to Team Nogueira to pursue MMA-focused grappling. In 2012, after winning a major jiu-jitsu tournament, he earned his purple belt. During a subsequent competition tour, Aly met Lloyd Irvin and joined his team. Under Irvin's mentorship, Aly captured the IBJJF World Championship at purple belt in 2014. Upon returning to Brazil, he was promoted to brown belt and continued his competitive momentum. Aly ultimately received his black belt from Lloyd Irvin in September 2015.

Following significant accomplishments in gi competitions, Mahamed Aly shifted his competitive focus toward professional MMA. Competing in the light heavyweight division, Aly amassed an undefeated professional MMA record of 4-0 by late 2024, including a notable victory at Shogun Fights 29. His MMA style leverages explosive takedowns, relentless top pressure, and positional control—skills refined through years of elite grappling competition. Aly has openly addressed past performance-enhancing drug (PED) use, emphasizing his commitment to a clean lifestyle and disciplined training regimen for sustained health and peak performance.

Mahamed Aly founded One Way Martial Arts in Alexandria, Virginia, marking a significant step forward from his previous affiliation with Team Lloyd Irvin. Transitioning into a leadership role, Aly established his own team and training programs. One Way Martial Arts provides comprehensive martial arts instruction, integrating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and striking disciplines. Aly assembled a diverse coaching staff with expertise across multiple martial arts, offering students a holistic and well-rounded training environment.

Known for his explosive athleticism and dynamic grappling style, Mahamed Aly effectively adapted his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills to MMA competition.
