Born on February 13, 1992, in Long Island, New York, Robert Diggle began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey at age 18. After securing a part-time job to fund his training, Diggle initially studied under Chris Schlesinger before transitioning to Kioto, where he trained under Milton Regis.

Diggle's advancement through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ranks was shaped by several prominent coaches. He earned his purple belt from Gregg Depasquale while training at Vitor Shaolin’s gym in Manhattan, and later received his brown belt from renowned instructor John Danaher. On August 9, 2021, Diggle was promoted to black belt by Brandon Bennett of the Renzo Gracie Academy.

Dominance in No-Gi Events

Robert Diggle specializes primarily in no-gi grappling, gaining national recognition through his exceptional performance at the 2021 IBJJF American National No-Gi Championship. At this event, he secured gold in the brown belt division, submitting all opponents via heel hook—a testament to his technical proficiency in leg entanglements and submission setups.

High-Level Competition Record

Diggle regularly competes at elite no-gi tournaments, including Polaris, Grapplefest, and Fight To Win. His tactical approach and submission-oriented style have earned him over 60 victories at the black belt level, highlighting his consistency and effectiveness against top-tier competition.

ADCC Trials Performance

In 2022, Diggle showcased his strategic grappling and submission skills at the 2022 ADCC West Coast Trials, reaching the semi-finals in the -66kg division. Notably, he secured a submission victory over CJ Murdock, demonstrating his ability to capitalize on positional advantages and execute precise finishes.

International Achievements

Diggle further solidified his international reputation by winning gold at both the 66kg division of the 2022 ADCC Sweden Open and the 77kg division of the 2022 ADCC Singapore Open. In both tournaments, he submitted every opponent, underscoring his technical dominance and adaptability across weight classes.

In 2020, Diggle relocated to Singapore to lead the no-gi program at Evolve MMA, bringing his analytical approach and technical expertise to students in Asia. Following the split of the Danaher Death Squad in late 2021, he joined B-Team Jiu-Jitsu in Austin, Texas, further establishing himself as a respected competitor and instructor within the global Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community.

Diggle holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Queens College, City University of New York. Initially adopting the alias "Degle" on social media to separate his academic and athletic identities, his online presence steadily grew. This increased visibility has opened professional opportunities and enhanced his recognition within the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community.
