Samir Chantre

Samir Chantre was born on October 15, 1988, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His first exposure to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu occurred at age nine during his brother's graduation ceremony, sparking his initial interest in the martial art. He began formal training at Fabricio Academy in Copacabana, where he developed his foundational skills. After briefly stepping away to pursue soccer, Chantre returned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, reigniting his passion and commitment to the sport.

Upon resuming his training, Chantre transitioned from Fabricio Academy to the renowned Carlson Gracie team, further refining his technical abilities. He later trained under Alan Moraes, who awarded him his black belt. Throughout his progression, Chantre also benefited significantly from training sessions supervised by multiple-time world champion Caio Terra. As a brown belt, Chantre relocated to the United States, settling in California and laying the foundation for his future career in coaching and competition.

In 2016, Chantre co-founded Ares Jiu Jitsu, marking a significant milestone in his professional journey. He actively oversees multiple academy locations across Northern California, playing a pivotal role in the team's growth and community development. Under his leadership, Ares Jiu Jitsu has become recognized for its technical excellence, competitive achievements, and strong team culture.

Beyond his competitive accomplishments, Chantre has emerged as a prominent figure in athlete management, representing elite grapplers such as Ffion Davies, Nathiely de Jesus, and Gabriel Sousa. He guides these athletes through sponsorship negotiations, competition planning, and professional development. Chantre's mentorship extends to coaching, notably promoting rising talent Elisabeth Clay to black belt in late 2020, underscoring his dedication to nurturing the next generation of competitors.
