Inspired by Gracie's technical approach, Michael and his father began training under coach Odie Neto. He later transitioned to Pitbull Jiu-Jitsu, training under João Cunha, where he earned his yellow and orange belts.

Training Under Saulo and Alexandre Ribeiro

Seeking advanced instruction, Liera Jr. joined Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu, training directly under legendary brothers Saulo Ribeiro and Alexandre Ribeiro. Under their mentorship, he progressed rapidly, earning his blue and purple belts. Additionally, he took on responsibilities as an assistant coach, significantly contributing to the academy's competitive atmosphere and technical development.

Career Development at Atos Jiu-Jitsu

As a purple belt, Liera Jr. relocated to San Diego to train at the renowned Atos Jiu-Jitsu headquarters under the guidance of elite competitor and instructor André Galvão.
